Thermography:

Thermography is a great way to direct attention to a design. Evolving from its beginning stages, solely used to reproduce typography, to the endless creative effects that can be achieved, thermography can now be considered a finishing technique.

The thermographic process (also called raised printing) involves the dusting of resinous powder on an image printed with slow drying ink. After the excess powder has been removed, the sheet travels through a heat tunnel where the powder melts and fuses with the ink. This creates the raised surface.

Refinements in thermographic technology now enable images to be printed in semi-gloss and dull finished. Creativity is practically unlimited with the use of fine detail, solids, screens, textures and even four-color process. Just about anything that can be printed can utilize the added dimension of thermography.
